Terry Maguire is an elected Newton-le-Willows Independents councillor for Newton-le-Willows West and the leader of the Newton-le-Willows Independents.
Terry has lived in Newton-le-Willows for 54 years and is deeply invested in the future of the town. As a local business owner for over thirty years, he has employed local residents, supported apprenticeships, sponsored community events and backed local sports teams. He is also active in the wider community through his charity work, his role as a school governor, and his involvement with local organisations.
In 2021, Terry became the town’s first elected Independent councillor. Since then, he has worked hard to remain visible, accessible and active across Newton-le-Willows West. He has carried out regular ward walkabouts, worked with housing associations to resolve residents’ concerns, supported estate clean-ups, organised meetings between residents, police and housing providers, and maintained strong links with local businesses and community groups.
Terry believes local politics should be built on honesty, respect and cooperation. He has consistently promoted a constructive approach through Polite Politics, working with others where it benefits the town while continuing to challenge decisions and scrutinise the council where needed.
A key focus for Terry is the future of Earlestown and the wider regeneration of Newton-le-Willows. He is committed to working with council officers, contractors, residents and businesses to ensure regeneration delivers real benefits for the community, while continuing to raise important issues such as parking, transparency and proper communication.
Terry is proud to have been re-elected alongside Karl Collier and Craig Smith, and remains committed to putting Newton-le-Willows first, above national party politics.
If elected, we will work hard for Newton‑le‑Willows and the borough, always acting in the town’s best interests and offering support wherever possible.
